As well as other segments, also the video-projectors market in EMEA Region (Europe, Middle East and Africa) showed signs of recovery during the last two quarters of 2009. According to the latest data distributed by the analyst firm PMA, Pacific Media Associates, in the last quarter of 2009 the video-projector market recorded a 13.42% growth YoY, while figures relating to the entire year show an 8.5% decline compared to the previous year.

In this scenario, Acer not only confirmed the second place in the EMEA ranking, but outperformed the market both considering Q4 2009 and the entire year. In the last quarter of 2009 Acer recorded a 57.69 % growth YoY, more than 3 times the performance of the market in the same period. Taking into account the entire year, Acer recorded a 12.16% growth, a far better result than the market.

What’s more, Acer is among the first three players in 19 Countries and is market leader in Germany, Russia, South Africa, Switzerland, Turkey and Bulgaria. Acer ranks second in Italy, Hungary, Denmark, Croatia, Slovakia and Slovenia, while in France, Spain, the Netherlands, Romania, Czech Republic, Latvia and Serbia/Montenegro the company is third.

In Europe, Acer Germany recorded excellent results confirming its leadership in the market with a 22.8% market share that translates into a 25% YoY growth. Acer UK did very well, too, increasing its market share from 3.8% (2008) to 9.6% (2009) and registering an exceptional 126.74% YoY growth. For the first time ever Acer achieved the first position in the UK market during the last quarter of 2009, reaching a 15% share and registering a growth of 196,51% compared to the same period of 2008.

Good results in the Russian market as well, where Acer holds the leading position with a 23.2% share, considering the whole year. Acer did especially well in the last quarter of 2009, recording an extraordinary growth of 348.11%, with a market share increase from 7.5% to 20.5% YoY. Remarkable results also for Bulgaria where Acer market share raised from 10.9% (2008) to 27.4%, allowing the company to jump to the leading position in the market.

Firmly holding the leading position, in Turkey Acer recorded an exceptional 220.02% growth (2009 vs. 2008) and boosted its market share from 10.2% to 25%. Extremely positive performance in South Africa, where Acer ranks first with a 38.9% market share and registers a 51.63% growth YoY.
